Your eyes do not capture high-resolution images like a camera. Instead, they constantly flicker and jump, stitching together a patchwork of light data that your brain interprets as a stable view.

Because the center of your retina has a very small high-clarity zone, your eyes move rapidly to scan your surroundings in tiny bursts. Your brain works overtime to mask these movements and fill in the missing gaps, creating the illusion of a seamless panoramic scene. If your eyes ever stopped moving, you would effectively go blind because the light receptors would stop firing. It is essentially an impressive mental parlor trick that keeps the world looking steady.
