Dining on a Singed Sheep Head
In Iceland, a traditional meal called Svid features a complete sheep head served on a plate. The fur is singed off before boiling, creating a distinctively rustic dish that leaves little to the imagination.
This unique Icelandic delicacy is a classic example of nose-to-tail eating where nothing goes to waste. The head is split in half and cleaned thoroughly before being cooked until the meat is tender. While the brain is typically removed, the eyes and cheeks are often considered the most flavorful parts by locals. It remains a striking centerpiece of traditional winter feasts in the country.
