Hitler Attempted a Career as an Artist

Before leading a regime, Adolf Hitler spent five years working as a struggling professional painter in Vienna. He produced hundreds of works, including detailed watercolors, but failed to find significant critical or commercial success.

During his youth, Hitler was twice rejected from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts because his professors believed he lacked talent in human portraiture. He turned to copying postcards and painting local landmarks to earn a meager living. These paintings are still preserved today and occasionally surface at auctions. Their existence serves as a haunting reminder of how a failed career path can precede a catastrophic shift in world history.
