Bed Bugs Do Not Spread Disease
Despite their terrifying reputation and itchy bites, bed bugs are not known to transmit any infectious diseases to humans. They are purely parasitic pests that cause discomfort rather than carrying pathogens.
While most blood-feeding insects like mosquitoes are notorious for spreading dangerous viruses or parasites, bed bugs remain a health exception. Their bites can trigger severe allergic reactions or psychological stress, but they do not act as disease vectors. Because they generally feed on uncovered skin at night, they are master hitchhikers that travel through luggage rather than our bloodstreams. This makes them a persistent household nuisance rather than a biological threat.
