The Gluttonous Goose Who Stole Donald's Spotlight
Long before he became a household name in animation, Gus Goose debuted as a comic strip character. This insatiable bird famously crashed Donald Duck’s house and ate him out of every morsel of food in the pantry.
Gus Goose first appeared in Al Taliaferro's newspaper comic in 1938, predating his 1939 animated film debut. He was designed to be the ultimate houseguest from hell, defined by his relentless appetite and total lack of shame. While Donald Duck struggled with his temper, Gus simply focused on consuming everything in sight. This gluttonous personality made him an iconic, if frustrating, fixture in the Disney world.
