Your Brain Often Misses Obvious Changes

You may believe you see everything clearly, but your brain frequently misses major shifts in plain sight. Unless your attention is locked onto a specific detail, your mind simply fails to register the change.

This phenomenon occurs because our brains do not actually record high-resolution videos of our surroundings. Instead, we form simplified snapshots, making it nearly impossible to detect edits when there is a brief flicker or distraction. This gap in perception explains why witnesses often get details wrong and why even tiny distractions can be fatal while driving. Understanding this limitation highlights just how much of our reality is a mental construction rather than a perfect reflection of the world.
