The World Largest Book Is Stone

The Kuthodaw Pagoda houses a library consisting of 729 massive stone slabs. Each marble tablet acts as a page of the sacred Buddhist texts, making it the largest book ever created.

Instead of paper, the entire Pali Canon is carved into 729 individual marble tablets protected within white shrines. Standing at the foot of Mandalay Hill, this site serves as a permanent, indestructible record of ancient wisdom. If you were to read the entire set, it would take you an incredibly long time to walk through all the structures. It is a stunning example of how ancient cultures prioritized the preservation of knowledge over portability.
