The Indonesian Jungle Chicken Church

The Indonesian Jungle Chicken Church

Hidden deep within the lush forests of Central Java sits a massive, decaying prayer house shaped exactly like a giant chicken. Despite its bizarre appearance, the structure was originally intended to be a nondenominational sanctuary.

A local man claimed he received a divine vision to build a place for prayer, though he ultimately chose the chicken shape to represent a dove. While locals call it the Chicken Church, it never quite served its religious purpose and instead became a global curiosity. The structure fell into ruin for years, abandoned to the surrounding wilderness. Today, it stands as a surreal landmark that draws tourists seeking the strange and unexpected.
