Sarawak Home to Forty Unique Cultures
Sarawak is a land of incredible diversity, housing over 40 distinct ethnic groups within a single state. Each group maintains its own language and traditions, making the region a vibrant cultural mosaic that differs sharply from the rest of Malaysia.
While many assume a country shares a uniform culture, Sarawak functions as a collection of dozens of unique societies living side by side. This diversity is much closer to the cultural landscape of other parts of Borneo than to the Peninsular Malaysian mainland. The sheer density of different languages and customs packed into one state is rare globally. It serves as a fascinating example of how distinct groups can maintain their identity while existing within the same borders.
