Turning An Entire Hangar Into A Camera

A massive fighter jet hangar in California was converted into the world's largest pinhole camera. This unconventional structure captured a single record-breaking photograph that remains the largest print ever made.

To create this image, artists transformed an abandoned military hangar by sealing it completely and punching a tiny pinhole through a metal plate over the door. This turned the entire 111-foot-wide building into a massive camera obscura that exposed a custom-made canvas for over thirty minutes. The resulting photograph beautifully captured the surrounding airfield and mountain landscape in stunning detail. It serves as a permanent record of the base before it was turned into a public park.
