One Hundred Chairs in One Hundred Days
Martino Gamper broke design norms by building a unique chair every single day for over three months. He rejects the idea of a perfect chair, intentionally ignoring symmetry to prove furniture can be art.
Instead of sketching on paper, Gamper views his rapid construction process as three-dimensional drawing. He rescued discarded furniture from London streets and combined their parts into eccentric, functional sculptures. This project challenged the rigid standards of industrial design by celebrating chaos over traditional harmony. His work reminds us that utility does not have to come at the cost of creative expression.
