A Building With A Forest Roof
The Waldspirale is a residential complex in Germany shaped like a spiral that features a fully functional forest growing on its roof. It defies traditional architecture by lacking straight lines or uniform window shapes.
Designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the building symbolizes harmony between humans and nature. It contains over one thousand windows, yet remarkably, no two windows are exactly the same. The roof is planted with trees, shrubs, and flowers that provide natural insulation for the apartments below. This architectural marvel proves that urban living spaces can look more like living landscapes than concrete boxes.
