The Massive Glass Bubble Mimicking Earth

The Massive Glass Bubble Mimicking Earth

Biosphere 2 is the largest enclosed ecosystem ever built, designed to see if humans could survive in a self-sustaining bubble on other planets. This massive structure functions as a living laboratory for the entire Earth.

Built in the Arizona desert, this 3.14-acre glass structure was meant to be completely sealed off from the outside world. Scientists wanted to test if people could live inside an artificial environment that recycled its own air and water. While the experiment faced intense challenges, it provided invaluable data about how complex ecosystems behave. Today, it serves as a unique facility for studying how our own planet reacts to environmental changes.
