The Leaning Teahouse of Windsor

Built in 1687, this lopsided teahouse stands on such an extreme slant that it looks like it might collapse at any moment. The structure was reconstructed in the 17th century using unseasoned wood that warped over time.

This remarkable building is officially recognized as the oldest teahouse in England. Its distinctive crooked appearance actually stems from the rapid construction process using green, unseasoned oak beams. Over the centuries, the wood dried and twisted, forcing the entire frame into a permanent, dramatic lean.
