Without these linguistic anchors, human communication would be impossible to coordinate. Deixis forces the listener to calculate the speaker's exact context to understand the message. It is a universal feature of every known language, yet it changes completely every time you move or look at a clock. You are essentially using invisible GPS coordinates every time you say a pronoun.
