Babies Can Self-Feed From Day One
Instead of being spoon-fed pureed mush, babies can skip the baby food stage entirely. By self-feeding whole chunks of soft food, they learn to control their own portions and discover new textures at their own pace.
This approach, known as baby-led weaning, trusts infants to gauge their own hunger and fullness from the very first bite of solid food. Rather than a parent deciding how many spoonfuls are consumed, the baby explores pieces of food with their hands and mouth. This process strengthens oral motor skills and speech development far better than standard mushy diets. It also turns dinner into a social learning experience where the baby joins the family at the table like everyone else.
