The West Coast's Tallest Lighthouse

The West Coast's Tallest Lighthouse

Standing 115 feet high, the Pigeon Point Lighthouse is the tallest on the entire U.S. West Coast. Despite its California location, the tower’s design mimics a classic New England style.

Built in 1871, this historic landmark has guided ships through treacherous coastal waters for over 150 years. It remains an active navigation aid for the Coast Guard today. Its white masonry design creates a striking contrast against the dramatic cliffs of the Pacific. Visitors often find its traditional aesthetic surprisingly out of place among the rugged California shoreline.
