Earth Has Secret Companion Moons

Earth is orbited by tiny objects called quasi-satellites that dance around our planet for years. They do not technically circle us like the Moon does, yet they stay by our side as we travel through space.

These curious objects are caught in a gravitational tango, looping around the Sun while staying perfectly synchronized with Earth. Because they remain in our neighborhood for decades or even centuries, they act as temporary companions. Astronomers have identified several of these drifting neighbors, including one known as Kamo'oalewa. It is a strange cosmic partnership that keeps these rocks looping near us without ever truly getting captured by our gravity.
