Apple Was Once A Desktop Computer Company

Before revolutionizing the phone industry, Apple launched in 1976 as a computer maker. It eventually dropped Computer from its official name in 2007 to signal a massive shift toward mobile devices and digital services.

While we associate Apple with iPhones today, the company spent its first three decades focused almost entirely on personal computing hardware. The name change was a calculated strategic move to reflect how the brand had outgrown its desktop roots. Interestingly, co-founder Ronald Wayne sold his share for only 800 dollars just days after the company started. Had he held onto that stake, it would be worth hundreds of billions today.
