Deadly Political Vengeance in Dharmapuri

In 2000, three university students were burned alive in a bus because a local politician was convicted of a crime. This horrific attack was carried out by loyalists acting in a blind frenzy to protest her legal sentencing.

The tragedy unfolded in Tamil Nadu when AIADMK supporters targeted the bus specifically to display their outrage over Jayalalithaa’s conviction. Although the culprits were initially sentenced to death for their brutal actions, their sentences were later reduced to life imprisonment.
