From Asylum To Haunted Theme Park

New Zealand's most infamous psychiatric hospital is now a terrifying tourist attraction. Visitors flock to the former Kingseat Hospital to walk through wards that are officially branded as one of the country's most haunted sites.

After decades of operating as a psychiatric facility, the complex shut its doors and reinvented itself in 2005. It was transformed into Spookers, a professional haunted theme park that leans into the location's eerie reputation. More than one hundred ghostly apparitions have been reported by brave guests and staff over the years. It is a rare example of a somber history being turned into a thriving hub for horror entertainment.
