The Theological Theory That Erased Christ Humanity

Eutychianism proposed that Jesus had only a single divine nature. This belief suggested his human traits were completely dissolved into his divinity like a drop of honey in the vast ocean.

This radical idea sparked massive controversy in the early Church because it essentially claimed Jesus was not fully human. Church leaders feared that if Christ lacked a human nature, he could not truly represent humanity or suffer for its salvation. This led to a fierce ecclesiastical battle at the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD. Ultimately, the Church rejected this view, declaring that Christ exists in two distinct yet inseparable natures.
