Born in a humble cottage, Dominic devoted himself to fixing a dangerous stretch of the Camino de Santiago. He famously built a bridge and a stone road to help travelers cross a river and survive the forest. His legacy became so legendary that the entire town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada eventually grew up around his infrastructure. It is a rare example of a saint whose primary miracle was civil engineering.
