The World Created With Fake History
The Omphalos hypothesis suggests that God created the world recently but intentionally filled it with false signs of age, like fossils and light from distant stars, to make it appear billions of years old.
This idea emerged to reconcile literal religious creation stories with modern scientific findings. Proponents argue that a fully formed world would naturally require an appearance of history, such as tree rings or even belly buttons on humans, which imply a past that never occurred. Because this theory assumes all historical evidence is essentially a divine illusion, it remains impossible to prove or disprove through scientific testing. It serves as a fascinating example of how far some will go to maintain traditional beliefs against overwhelming empirical data.
