You can be morally responsible for your choices even if you never had the power to do anything else. Philosopher Harry Frankfurt proved that freedom of choice is not a requirement for blame.

Most people assume that if you could not have acted differently, you should not be held accountable for your deeds. Frankfurt imagined a scenario where a person chooses to act, while a hidden manipulator is secretly ready to force that exact result if the person hesitated. Even though the person was destined to perform that action, they chose it themselves, making them morally responsible. This thought experiment fundamentally shifted how we define free will and human accountability.
