The Indestructible Cracker of History

Hardtack is a simple cracker made of just flour and water that can remain edible for decades. It was so rock-hard that sailors often nicknamed it tooth-dullers because it could literally break a person's teeth.

This long-lasting ration was essential for surviving months at sea when fresh food quickly rotted. Soldiers and sailors often had to soak the bricks in coffee or broth just to make them soft enough to chew. Sometimes they would even use the back of a gun to smash the crackers into smaller, manageable pieces. Because they were so durable, these crackers became the ultimate survival food for centuries of travel and warfare.
