The Ancient Snake That Ate Elephants

In Chinese mythology, the giant serpent Bashe was so massive that it regularly consumed entire elephants. After six months of digestion, it would eventually spit out the massive skeletons.

This legendary creature was often described as a python-like beast of immense proportions. Its appetite was considered a symbol of greed and gluttony in early folklore. Ancient texts suggest that a hero eventually hunted down this monster to protect local villages from its path of destruction. Today, the name Bashe is sometimes still used in Chinese culture as a metaphor for insatiable, overreaching ambition.
