The Musician Who Failed To Save Love
Orpheus was so gifted at music that he charmed even the gods of the underworld into releasing his dead wife. He nearly succeeded, but he lost her forever because he could not resist looking back at her before they reached the surface.
Legend says the music of Orpheus was so hauntingly beautiful that rocks and trees would weep alongside him. When his wife Eurydice died from a snake bite, he traveled to the land of the dead to plea for her return. The gods were so moved by his performance that they granted his wish on one condition: he must walk ahead and never turn to look at her until they were back in the world of the living. Doubting she was truly behind him, he turned at the final moment, causing her to vanish into the shadows instantly.
