China Launched A Quantum Satellite
In 2016, China sent the first quantum communications satellite into orbit. This mission successfully demonstrated how to transmit unhackable information across vast distances using space.
The project, known as QUESS, used entangled particles to create a secure, unbreakable communication link between space and Earth. Because quantum particles change instantly when measured, any attempt to intercept the signal would destroy the data, leaving no trace for hackers. This milestone proved that global quantum networks are possible from orbit. It remains a massive leap forward in the future of secure data transmission.
