In Elemental, fire and water beings live together in a sprawling city. Despite the laws of nature, these opposites fall in love while struggling to save a family convenience store.

To make the characters feel authentic, the animation team developed complex technical rigs to represent the physics of fire and water. Each character moves based on their internal chemical properties, which was a massive departure from Pixar’s previous character designs. The film explores the challenges of blending diverse cultures within a vibrant urban landscape. It represents a unique creative experiment in personifying the basic building blocks of our natural world.
