The Primate That Can Rotate Its Head

Tarsiers are tiny primates capable of rotating their heads 180 degrees in either direction. Because their eyes are physically fixed in their sockets, this extreme mobility is the only way they can scan for predators.

These bug-eyed creatures are actually among the most specialized hunters in the primate world. Unlike humans, who move their eyes to track movement, a tarsier must swivel its entire neck to change its field of view. This bizarre physical trait makes them incredibly efficient at night. They are the only entirely carnivorous primates, surviving exclusively on insects and small vertebrates.
