Operation Mincemeat Used A Dead Body

Operation Mincemeat Used A Dead Body

During World War II, British intelligence orchestrated a bizarre plot to fool Hitler by using a corpse dressed as a fake officer. This ghost soldier carried secret documents that successfully convinced the Nazis to protect the wrong location.

To mislead the Axis powers, officials created a complete fake identity for a deceased homeless man, complete with love letters and tickets. They dropped the body off the coast of Spain to ensure German spies would find the planted disinformation. The plan worked perfectly, drawing German forces away from Sicily before the Allied invasion. This incredible deception remains one of the most successful intelligence coups in history.
